Carr not only plans to continue his giving mission at every rodeo that features the firm, but he also will open the opportunity for everyone to help by selling the popular Pete Carr Pro Rodeo hats below.
“We are going to take the proceeds from those online hat sales through the end of the year sand donate them to Cowboys Who Care,” said Carr, who also serves on the foundation’s board. “We believe in this organization, so I wanted to find as many avenues as possible to continue giving.”
Cowboys Who Care was founded by comedian Cowboy Bill Martin and his wife, Michele.
“The hat means honor, bravery and kindness,” Martin said. “Our sole mission is financial support, smiles and free cowboy hats for boys and girls who have cancer and other life-threatening illnesses.”
Martin had noticed through online search that there were images of children with big smiles and bald heads.
“These kids need cowboy hats,” he said. “It is our belief that there is nothing more precious than a child’s smile. We have found that cowboy hats help create those beautiful smiles.”
It’s one of many reasons that Carr is so involved. He’s made the hospital visits, handed over cowboy hats and seen faces brighten.
“When you see these kids, you can’t help but want to be there for them in some way,” Carr said. “This is just another way we all can help.”
